Anonymous interactions

When you submit a request, correction or vote, Portition uses a random signed browser identifier in a Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite cookie named __Host-portition. It lasts up to 180 days and supports vote membership, retries and abuse limits. Clearing it loses your browser’s voting identity. It is not a verified identity.

Network abuse limits use a keyed hash of the connecting IP address (IPv6 addresses are grouped by /64). Application tables do not store the raw address. These identifiers are pseudonymous operational data, not a guarantee of anonymity. Cloudflare processes connection information to serve and protect the site.

Security checks and hosting

Cloudflare Workers hosts Portition, D1 stores records, and Turnstile checks public submissions and votes. Turnstile can process device and connection information for abuse prevention. Fonts are served through Google Fonts, whose servers receive font requests. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

Submissions and private receipts

Approved requests are public. Pending text, correction explanations and internal review notes are private. A receipt link contains a high-entropy credential in its fragment. Keep the full link private: anyone holding it can view the submitted content and public review outcome. The server stores a hash of the credential.

Retention

Quota events and completed retry outcomes are retained for up to 48 hours. Rejected text is removed after 30 days. Private receipts are removed 90 days after resolution; routine job logs after 90 days; detailed change history after 365 days. Active votes and public lifecycle history remain while the content is in service. Operational provider logs and backups follow their service settings.

Measurement

Portition does not use advertising profiles or device fingerprinting. Product analytics do not record raw IP addresses or unrestricted search text. We sample searches, project opens and guide/download clicks using only event type, broad target platform and whether a search found results. These measurements have no identity cookie, game/query text, page URL or cross-visit identifier, and are retained in Cloudflare Analytics Engine for three months. Counts are estimates. Infrastructure logs support reliability; secrets, receipt credentials and submitted text must not be logged.
